House of Repenties

Novel - 73,854 words

unpublished

I look down upon my body: whimpering, willing to fight but barely conscious under his hefty frame.

I laugh at my helpless self. ‘What did you expect, you fool?’

In 14th century France—a time when Avignon houses the Papacy and desires to purify its towns by reforming prostitutes into nuns—Eti is taken from the dominating hands of men to the dominating hands of the Church. However, a new destiny can never outrun a troubled past. Anxious to rebuild herself, and her idea of God, she finds help from people she would never expect.

How much can Eti trust the intentions of those who claim to truly love her, after living in a world where love means trading a couple coins for a body covered in bruises? Every choice has its cost. Ultimately, Eti will have to choose whether to abandon the beloved freedom she has always sought on the streets or the newfound happiness that she cannot bear to leave behind.

novel - in Progress

Millie looks up at me for a moment, and then sighs and pulls her arms from around me. I watch her spin around and glide back inside, wishing she would turn back and look at me with that darling smile one more time.

A twinge of guilt surges through me, but I quickly dismiss it. Sometimes the truth is better left unsaid.

The Great Harvest POP

Picture book - 995 words

out for querying

Over the tree-lines,
the popcorn looms,
pouring over the fields
the most delicious kind of gloom.

Ella Nois, a mouse living deep below the cornfields, is enjoying a book on a hot Illinois day, when suddenly she is startled by a POP! And then another! And another! She pushes her door open, only to discover that the heat of the day has popped the corn kernels right out of their stalks and filled the field with mounds of fluffy popcorn.

Acting on encouraging words from a dear, old friend, Ella Nois must find a way to save the popcorn from becoming drenched under a brewing thunderstorm. Only with the help of others can Ella Nois save the popcorn in the most delicious kind of way!
